Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Airport Pick-up to Nairobi City
Your safari driver-guide will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Nairobi. Depending on your arrival time, you may go for a short tour around the city. Spend your first night at a hotel in Nairobi and get some rest before starting the safari.
Day 2: Transfer to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, begin your drive to Amboseli National Park. The journey takes about 4 to 5 hours. You will arrive in time for lunch, check in to your lodge, and relax. In the afternoon, go for your first game drive in Amboseli. Look out for animals with Mount Kilimanjaro in the background. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Game Drives in Amboseli National Park
Start with breakfast, then head out with a packed lunch for a full day of game viewing. Amboseli is known for its large elephant herds. You may also see lions, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, wildebeests, hippos, and many birds such as pelicans, kingfishers, ostriches, eagles, and vultures. Visit Observation Hill for wide views of the park. Return to your lodge for overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Masai Mara National Reserve
After breakfast, leave Amboseli and drive to Masai Mara National Reserve. This is the most visited park in Kenya. You will pass through different landscapes along the way. Arrive in the afternoon, check in to your lodge, and have lunch. You may choose to rest or go for a short evening game drive. Spend the night at your lodge in Maasai Mara.
Day 5: Game Drives in Masai Mara National Reserve
Today you will explore the wide plains of the Masai Mara. The reserve is known for its large number of animals. You may see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, jackals, hyenas, crocodiles, hippos, dik-diks, gazelles, waterbucks, and many birds. If you wish, you can visit a nearby Maasai village before returning to your lodge for overnight.
Day 6: Drive Back to Nairobi City
You may begin the day with an early morning game drive or an optional hot air balloon safari. After breakfast, check out and begin the drive back to Nairobi. On the way, you may stop for souvenir shopping. Once in Nairobi, your guide will drop you at the airport or your hotel, marking the end of your safari.
