Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: From Nairobi to Amboseli national park
Your first destination on the 10-day Kenya safari is Amboseli national park, the best place in Kenya to see the African elephants up close as the park is home to very big herds of elephants. You will have an afternoon introductory game drive in Amboseli before returning to your safari camp / lodge at sunset for an overnight.
Day 2: In Amboseli national park
Start your day with a sunrise game drive in Amboseli national park. As the day gets brighter with the fist ray of sunlight and the skies clear, you will have great views of Mt. Kilimanjaro providing a stunning backdrop to Amboseli. Look out for the early risers like the predators; lions, leopards, cheetahs out on a hunt. Return to your lodge for breakfast and a leisure mid-morning. You will head out for more game drives across the savannah and woodlands of Amboseli for more exciting wildlife sightings later in the day during the cooler hours when animals are more active. You won’t miss out on elephants, buffalos, zebras and wildebeests as these are in large numbers. Drive to the observation hill for scenic views of the park. Overnight at your safari camp / lodge.
Day 3: From Amboseli to Ol Pejeta Conservancy
After your breakfast, you will drive to the famous Ol Pejeta conservancy on a scenic road trip with great views. On arrival at the conservancy, you will visit the Chimpanzee sanctuary and then continue on an exploration game drive for more wildlife sightings. Ol Pejeta is also famously known for the protection of the endangered animal species especially the Rhinos. Call it a day and retire to your safari camp / lodge.
Day 4: From Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Samburu game reserve
Depart Ol Pejeta conservancy for Samburu game reserve, an un-spoilt game reserve with so much to offer especially its unique habitats. On arrival, you can head out for a later afternoon game drive or sit back at your safari camp / lodge to relax, enjoy the facilities amenities, shake off the fatigue as you prepare for the remaining 5 days of your 10-day safari.
Day 5: In Samburu game reserve
Full day of exploration in the unique Samburu game reserve. Pack your lunch and head out to explore this not so big but rewarding game reserve as it features animal species unique to its habitats, that is the long-necked gerenuk, Grevy’s zebra, Besia oryx, reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. These are the “Special 5” of Samburu game reserve.
While on the game drive, you will also encounter lions, different antelopes, leopards, hyenas and more. Esawo Ng’iro River is a great game viewing spot as animals converge on its banks to quench their thirst. Overnight at your safari camp / lodge.
Day 6: From Samburu game reserve to Lake Nakuru national park
Exit Samburu with on last game drive as you start your scenic journey to Lake Nakuru national park. You will arrive in the afternoon in time for a delicious lunch at your lodge after which you go on a game drive around the park, driving towards Lake Nakuru for great wildlife sightings including the different waterbird species. Call it a day by sunset and drive back to the safari camp / lodge for an overnight.
Day 7: From Lake Nakuru national park to Lake Bogoria to Lake Naivasha
Call it a Lake Day. Depart Lake Nakuru national park for a day trip to Lake Bogoria, home to millions of flamingoes and other water birds, beautiful geysers and hot springs. After exploring Lake Bogoria, take a moment and enjoy you lunch and thereafter, drive to Lake Naivasha for a rewarding boat safari on Lake Naivasha with aquatic life sightings like water birds and the hippos. Over night in Naivasha at the safari camp / lodge.
Day 8: From Lake Naivasha to Maasai Mara national reserve
On a road trip further South of Kenya, you will leave the lakes behind and head to Kenya’s most visited and famous park. The Maasai Mara national reserve adjacent to the famous Serengeti national park North of Tanzania and together they create a massive ecosystem that supports the great wildebeest migration, a true wilderness natural wonder. Have lunch at your safari camp / lodge in Maasai Mara and later go for a game drive or spend the rest of the day at leisure, you might need some down time to recharge.
Day 9: In Maasai Mara national reserve
Even outside the migration season, Maasai Mara still has a lot to offer. Explore different areas of the vast Maasai Mara plains for a thrilling game viewing adventure. Look out for the big 5, lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo and leopard among other animals like giraffe, zebra, hippos, hyena, cheetah, wildebeest, gazelles and much more. Later in the evening, you could visit a Masai village for some cultural experiences. Overnight at the safari camp / lodge in Maasai Mara.
Day 10: Depart back to Nairobi
