Tsavo West National Park is located in the Coast Province of Kenya. It covers about 9,065 square kilometers, making it one of the largest parks in the country. The park is found along the Mombasa-Nairobi railway, which divides it from Tsavo East National Park. Together, Tsavo East and Tsavo West form what is called the Tsavo Conservation Area.

Location of Tsavo West National Park
The park is located about 240 kilometers from Nairobi and around 250 kilometers from Mombasa. It lies in the area that was once part of the Taru Desert. This region has a dry climate and very few people live here, which allows wildlife to move freely without disturbance.
How to Get There
You can reach Tsavo West National Park either by road or by air. The A109 highway passes through the park, so driving from Nairobi or Mombasa is easy. Many visitors choose to book their trip through a tour operator, who will arrange transport and accommodation.
Public buses also travel through the park between Nairobi and Mombasa.
For those who prefer to fly, there are several airstrips inside the park. These include Tsavo Gate, Ziwani, Kamboyo, Jipe, Kilaguni, Finch Hattons, and Maktau. These airstrips allow small planes to land, making it easy to access different areas of the park.
